Advocacy

For Fathers and Dads

We work with fathers and organizations to identify and advocate for social and equitable justice that will lead to healthy father involvement with children and families.

WHAT WE DO FOR FATHERS

Father Inclusion and Equity

Obtain and sustain positive father engagement through the following:

Advance the awareness of evidence-based research which indicates children benefit emotionally, socially, and academically when fathers are positively involved.

Advocate the importance of organizations and agencies obtaining and sustaining “father-friendly” environments. This will be accomplished by organization and agencies self-assessing the environment of their organization using the "Father-Friendly Check Up" tool.

Advocate the use of best practices in providing resources equitable, fair and developed resources and services to meet the specific needs of men and/or father.

Child Support Assistance

Obtain fairness and equity in child support services through:

Collaboration with local child support agency, welfare programs, courts, and others to ensure fathers receive fair and equitable services that are non-punitive, but conducive towards restoring and rebuilding positive relationships with their children and the custodial parent(s), whenever possible.

Assist non-custodial fathers in decreasing and eliminating child support arrears and maintaining regular child support payments for the future financial security of their children.

Support local and State-wide coalitions advocating for legislative changes in child support policies and procedures that are presently systemically-bias and unfair for (primarily) low-income families, people of color, and non-custodial fathers.

Child Welfare Assistance
