3rd Annual Leadership Summit for Fatherhood

August 23 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Who Should Attend: Maternal Health Network Community – County Officials and State Legislatures – University/College Professors and Educators
Theme:“Together, we can create positive outcomes for Black mothers and infants by intentionally including fathers in the birthing process.”
Historically, Black/African American fathers have been essentially ignored in the maternal health and infant care systems.  However, research shows significant evidence that when fathers are involved in maternal health and infant care:
  • Babies are healthier at birth and  4 times more likely to celebrate their first birthday, less likely to experience Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and have improved learning and emotional development.
  • Children are more likely to go to well-baby visits, have higher developmental scores and fewer behavior problems later in life.  (Rationale and Strategies for Engaging Fathers in Maternal and Infant Health Programs, June 2017)
Dads Need To Be A Part Of The Village, Too!”
What You Will Learn About:
  • Research Studies on Father/Partner Engagement in Black Maternal and Infant Health Care
  • The Dads’ Voices (Panelist of New and Expecting Fathers/Male Partners)
  • House Resolution Bill 36, Fatherhood Wellbeing Month
  • Legislative Funding Supporting Fathers/Partners Engagement in Maternal and Infant Health Care
